Julian: You locked Maya in the basement?!
Victoria: She was misbehaving, Julian! She spilled orange juice on my six-thousand-dollar sofa!
Evelyn: She is four years old, Victoria! She made an accident with a cup!
Victoria: She did it on purpose! She has been disrespecting me ever since I moved into this estate!
Julian: Victoria... tell me you didn't do that. Tell me you didn't lock my daughter in the dark!
Victoria: It was only for a few minutes to teach her some discipline!
Arthur: It was three hours, Victoria! I found her crying in the storage room under the north wing because the maid heard her banging on the metal door!
Victoria swallowed hard, backing away as Arthur stepped forward, holding Maya securely in his arms.
Arthur: I hired you to manage the interior design of this mansion, Victoria. I let you stay here because Julian said you were getting married. But you brought cruelty into my home.
Victoria: Arthur, please... I was just stressed about the engagement party setup!
Evelyn: You weren't stressed, Victoria. You were jealous because Maya is the primary beneficiary of the Sterling family trust fund!
Victoria's eyes darted toward the exit doors as Evelyn pulled a stack of folded documents out of her navy blazer.
Victoria: Where did you get those papers?
Evelyn: I got them from Arthur's estate attorney an hour ago.
Julian: What papers are those, Evelyn?
Evelyn: These are the petition forms Victoria filed last week, trying to get herself named as Maya's legal guardian if your marriage went through.
Julian: What?! Victoria, you told me those were just health insurance forms for the family policy!
Evelyn: She lied to you, Julian. She wanted full control over Maya's multi-million-dollar inheritance before the wedding even happened!
Victoria: That's not true! I was trying to protect the girl's future!
Evelyn: You were trying to steal her trust fund so you could pay off your brother's failed real estate investments in Chicago!
The crowd gasped louder, and several family members began pulling their gifts off the main display table.
Julian: Is that why you were pushing me to sign the prenuptial agreement so quickly?
Victoria: Julian, listen to me, I love you! I did everything for our future family!
Julian: You hit my child, locked her in a cellar, and tried to manipulate my family's fortune! Don't touch me!
Julian snatched the engagement ring box off his tuxedo lapel and threw it onto the marble floor at Victoria's feet.
