Victoria: Are you deaf? I said switch to the other foot.
Sarah: Give me a second. My hands are cramping.
Victoria: I don't care about your hands. We have fifty billionaires in this room, and I want them to see you serving me.
Sarah: Why are you doing this, Victoria? What did I ever do to you?
Victoria: You married my brother. You tainted our bloodline with your trailer-park DNA.
Sarah: I loved Richard. I didn't care about his money.
Victoria: Please. You knew our family owned the largest corporate holding company in the state.
Sarah: I didn't know anything about the company when we met in college.
Victoria: Well, you certainly figured it out fast enough. But your little gold-digging plan failed.
Sarah dipped the sponge back into the cold water. She wrung it out slowly.
Sarah: Where did Richard put the papers from the study?
Victoria: What papers?
Sarah: Don't play dumb. The manila folder my father's lawyer sent over this morning.
Victoria: That was just junk mail. Richard shredded it.
Sarah: You don't shred junk mail inside a locked fireproof safe.
Victoria: You have a very active imagination for a woman sitting on the floor.
Sarah: I know what was in that folder, Victoria. It was the inheritance audit.
Victoria's mocking smile faltered for a fraction of a second. She quickly recovered.
Victoria: You don't know anything about corporate finance.
Sarah: I know my father didn't sign his trust fund over to your brother.
Victoria: Your father was senile in his final months. Richard helped him make the right choices.
Sarah: Richard forged his signature.
Victoria: Say that again, and I will have security throw you out into the street.
Sarah: It is the truth. My father hated Richard.
Victoria: Your father is buried in the ground. The life insurance and the real estate are already in our names.
Sarah: You can't steal a family business just by printing fake documents.
Victoria: Watch us. By tomorrow morning, the merger will be complete.
Sarah: What merger?
Victoria: The one where we liquidate your father's assets and move the cash offshore.
Sarah: You are liquidating the employee pension funds?
Victoria: Those workers are not my problem. Now dry my foot. The champagne is getting warm.
Sarah grabbed a white towel. She patted Victoria's foot, keeping her head down.
Richard walked over. He looked down at Sarah with absolute disgust.
Richard: Is she behaving, Victoria?
Victoria: She is being stubborn, as usual. But she is learning her place.
Richard: Good. The board members are very impressed with our display of household discipline.
Sarah: You are a monster, Richard.
Richard: Excuse me? What did you just say to me?
Sarah: I said you are a monster. And a thief.
Richard crouched down. He grabbed Sarah by the arm, his grip bruising her skin.
Richard: If you embarrass me in front of these investors, I will do a lot worse than slap you.
Sarah: Let go of my arm. People are watching.
Richard: Let them watch. They know you are mentally unstable. I already told them you are off your medication.
Sarah: You are setting up a fake medical history to get custody of the estate.
Richard: I don't need custody. I already have power of attorney.
Sarah: A forged power of attorney.
Richard: Prove it. Oh wait, you can't. Your lawyer dropped you yesterday.
Sarah looked at the floor. Her phone buzzed again, a long, continuous vibration.
