The bright daylight streamed through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows of the grand estate, lighting up the polished white marble floor. Dozens of fresh flower arrangements lined the hall for the upcoming wedding, but the air inside was thick with tension. Sabrina stood in the center of the room, her long white bridal gown trailing behind her, holding a heavy wooden baseball bat in both hands.
Sabrina: You think you can hide this child from me?!
Elena: Please, Miss Sabrina! She is just a little girl!
Elena, the house maid, dropped to her knees on the cold floor, her black-and-white uniform gathering around her as she raised her hands in total desperation.
Sabrina: Shut up! Tell me where she is right now, or I swear I'll destroy everything in this room!
Elena: I don't know where she went! I swear to you!
Sabrina pulled the wooden bat back over her shoulder, her eyes wild with anger as she aimed directly at the kneeling maid. Before she could swing it down, heavy footsteps echoed across the marble.
Marcus: SABRINA, PUT IT DOWN!
Marcus rushed forward, his dark suit jacket flying open as he reached out and grabbed Sabrina's wrist in mid-air, holding the heavy bat back with all his strength.
Sabrina: Let go of me, Marcus! She's lying to us!
Elena: PLEASE! DON'T LET HER HARM THE LITTLE GIRL!
Elena looked up with tear-streaked cheeks, her voice trembling as she pointed toward the back corner of the grand hallway. Behind a massive white marble pillar, a young blonde girl peeked out quietly, putting a small finger up to her lips.
Sabrina: There she is! Get out of my way, Marcus!
Sabrina tore her arm free and raised the wooden bat higher into the air. Marcus turned, his face twisting in pure rage, and delivered a hard, stinging slap directly across Sabrina's cheek.
The sharp sound echoed loudly against the white walls. Sabrina reeled back, dropping the bat onto the marble floor with a heavy clatter as she clutched her red face. Marcus moved past her without a word, rushing straight toward the pillar.
Marcus: I'VE GOT YOU, YOU'RE SAFE NOW!
He scooped the little girl into his arms, holding her tightly against his chest while Sabrina glared at them in utter shock, but the truth about why the child was hidden in this house was only just beginning to come to light.
