Evelyn: How dare you lay a hand on me!
Mark: I said get out before I throw you out myself!
Evelyn: I am your father's widow! You cannot talk to me like this!
Mark: You struck my wife in my own home!
Evelyn: She was being lazy and disrespectful!
Sarah: I wasn't being lazy, Mark... I swear I wasn't!
Sarah collapsed into a kitchen chair, clutching the baby while sobbing softly into her shoulder.
Mark: Look at what you did to her, Evelyn!
Evelyn: She needed to learn her place. She is nothing but a simple girl who married above her station.
Mark: She is my wife, and this is our home!
Evelyn: This house was paid for using your father's estate money!
Mark: My father left this house to me in his will!
Evelyn: A will that I am currently challenging in probate court!
Mark: You have no right to touch Sarah. None at all!
Evelyn: I came here today to inspect the property, and what do I find?
Mark: You found a mother taking care of a sick newborn baby!
Evelyn: I found dirty dishes in the sink and dust on the mantelpiece!
Sarah: I told her the baby had a high fever all night, Mark...
Mark: Shh, Sarah. You don't have to explain anything to her.
Evelyn: When I told her to clean up, she had the nerve to say no to me!
Mark: Because she was taking care of my daughter!
Evelyn: So I corrected her behavior. A proper wife keeps a clean house.
Mark: You slapped her across the face and forced her to wash dishes while holding a crying baby!
Evelyn: I was teaching her a lesson in respect!
Mark stepped even closer to Evelyn, his hands clenched into tight fists at his sides.
Mark: You are a monster.
Evelyn: Watch your tongue, Mark. I still control the family trust fund.
Mark: I don't care about your money!
Evelyn: You will care when I cut off your monthly stipend!
Mark: Cut it off! I work for a living. I don't need a single cent from you!
Evelyn: You think you can survive in this city without my backing?
Mark: I survived five years without you after my mother died, and I will do it again.
Evelyn: Your father made a mistake leaving you anything at all.
Mark: My father made a mistake marrying a gold-digger like you!
Evelyn raised her hand to strike Mark, but he grabbed her wrist in mid-air with a crushing grip.
Mark: Touch me or my family again, and I will make sure you spend the night in a police cell.
Evelyn: Let go of me right now!
Mark: Move your feet toward that front door before I call the sheriff.
Evelyn: You're making a massive mistake, Mark.
Mark: The only mistake was letting you keep a key to this house.
Mark yanked Evelyn toward the hallway, forcing her to step away from his wife and child.
Evelyn: I will have my lawyers drain your bank accounts by tomorrow morning!
Mark: Try it. Now get out!
He shoved her toward the front entrance and slammed the heavy wooden door shut, locking it securely.
