Two city police officers pushed through the glass revolving doors of the hotel lobby, their hands resting on their belts as they scanned the room.
Officer Davis: What's the situation here? We received a 911 call about an assault on a minor.
Head Guard: Over here, Officers! I'm the head of hotel security.
Officer Davis: Who is the victim?
Marcus stepped forward, pointing toward Maya sitting on the sofa, then toward the overturned wheelchair on the floor.
Marcus: My ten-year-old daughter, Maya Vance. She was struck across the face and violently pushed out of her wheelchair.
Officer Miller: Who pushed her?
Head Guard: Victoria Sterling, the former manager standing right there.
Victoria backed up against the marble registration desk, shaking her head frantically.
Victoria: It was an accident, Officers! The chair slipped! I was just trying to help her!
Guest 1: That's a total lie! We all saw her slap the girl and throw her down!
Guest 2: I have a video of the whole thing on my phone!
Officer Davis: Ma'am, step away from the desk and put your hands behind your back.
Victoria: You can't arrest me! I am a respected member of the hotel management association!
Officer Miller: You're under arrest for felony injury to a child and assault, ma'am. Hand over your purse.
Officer Miller grabbed Victoria's arms, twisting them behind her back and clicking steel handcuffs around her wrists.
Victoria: AHH! You're hurting my wrists! Let go of me!
Officer Davis: You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.
Victoria: Mr. Vance! Tell them to stop! Please! I have a dog at home! Who will feed my dog?!
Marcus: Animal control can take care of your dog while you're in jail.
Victoria: You monster! You ruined my life in ten minutes!
Marcus: You ruined your own life the second you laid a hand on my daughter.
The officers dragged Victoria out through the lobby as she kicked and screamed, her high heels dragging along the marble floor.
The crowd broke into loud applause as the glass doors shut behind her, signaling the end of her cruel reign at the hotel.
