Victoria: You can't fire me! I've been the general manager here for five years!
Marcus: I bought this property today, which means I control every contract in this building. You're done!
Maya: Daddy... she called me trash...
Marcus: You are my whole world, Maya. You're a princess, and no one will ever hurt you again.
Marcus gently placed Maya onto one of the soft velvet sofas in the lobby, kneeling down beside her.
Marcus: Does anything else hurt, sweetheart? Did you hit your head?
Maya: My knee hurts from when I fell... but my face hurts the most...
Marcus looked at the bright red handprint swelling on his daughter's soft skin, his knuckles turning white as he clenched his fists.
Marcus: I promise you, Maya, justice will be done today.
Victoria slowly pushed herself up from the floor, holding her bruised ribs and sobbing hysterically.
Victoria: Mr. Vance, please! My career will be destroyed! I have a mortgage on my penthouse!
Marcus: You should have thought about your mortgage before you assaulted a ten-year-old child.
Victoria: I'll apologize to her! I'll get on my knees right now and beg her for forgiveness!
Marcus: Save your fake tears, Victoria. Your apology means nothing to me.
Three heavy security guards in uniform came running down the wide marble staircase toward the lobby.
Head Guard: Mrs. Sterling! What happened here?! We heard shouting!
Victoria: Arrest this man! He assaulted me! He kicked me onto the floor!
The head guard looked at Marcus, then looked at the little girl on the couch, and finally at the overturned wheelchair.
Head Guard: Wait... aren't you Mr. Marcus Vance?
Marcus: I am. And this woman just physically assaulted my daughter and threw her out of her chair.
Head Guard: Oh, Lord... Mr. Vance, we saw the security feed from the guard room just now!
Victoria: Chief! What are you doing?! Protect me!
Head Guard: Keep your mouth shut, Victoria! We watched you slap that little girl on camera!
Victoria: You... you watched the feed?
Head Guard: Every single second of it. It's saved on the main server right now.
Marcus: Excellent. Make sure that video file is backed up on three separate drives.
Head Guard: Already done, sir. The police are already on their way.
Victoria's jaw dropped as her knees buckled, nearly sending her back onto the marble floor.
Victoria: You called the police on me?!
Head Guard: You committed felony child abuse and assault in front of fifty witnesses, Victoria. I wasn't going to let you cover this up.
