The Fall Of The Vance Legacy

The Barren Wife Was Driven Away But Returned With Her Real Inheritance banner

Evelyn: You viper! You planned this whole thing!

Clara: I didn't plan your greed, Evelyn. You built your own trap; I just stepped out of the way.

The butler returned, holding a small velvet box, and handed it respectfully to Clara.

Clara: Thank you, Thomas.

She opened the box, slid her mother's simple silver ring onto her finger, and looked at the clock on the grand wall.

Clara: Your two hours are up. The sheriff is waiting outside.

Two uniformed officers walked through the front doors, holding execution notices for the property takeover.

Sheriff: Mrs. Evelyn Vance and Mr. Julian Vance, you need to vacate the premises immediately.

Evelyn: You can't do this to me! Do you know who I am?!

Sheriff: Ma'am, please step outside before we have to place you under arrest for trespassing.

Julian slowly got up, grabbing his coat, his eyes filled with total defeat.

Julian: Come on, Mother. Let's go.

Evelyn: I am not leaving my house!

The officers took Evelyn by her arms, escorting her kicking and screaming down the front steps toward the iron gates.

Evelyn: You will burn in hell for this, Clara! You are nothing without our name!

Clara: Your name is worth less than the glass you shattered, Evelyn.

Julian stopped at the threshold, turning back one last time to look at the woman he had abandoned.

Julian: I'm sorry, Clara. I really am.

Clara: Save your sorrow for the courtroom, Julian.

The heavy dark wood doors closed firmly behind them, shutting out their voices for good.

Attorney Hayes: What are your instructions for the property, Ms. Sterling?

Clara: Turn this entire mansion into a community center for women escaping domestic abuse.

Attorney Hayes: A wonderful choice, ma'am. And the family name on the gate?

Clara: Take down the Vance sign. Replace it with Sterling House.

Clara walked toward the window, watching the rain stop as the sun broke through the clouds over the grand estate.
