The Scene In The Foyer

She Screamed At Him In His Penthouse Until She Found The Hidden Medical Record banner

Julian: Get out before I have security throw you onto the street.

Veronica: I am not leaving until you explain what this paper means!

Veronica scrambled on her knees, grabbing the white document that had fallen from her leather handbag.

Julian: That is private property. Give that back to me right now.

Veronica: Private property? It has my sister's signature at the bottom!

Julian: Your sister signed that contract five years ago before she passed away.

Veronica: You told everyone she died in a car accident in upstate New York!

Julian: That is what happened. The police report was filed, and the case was closed.

Veronica: Then why does this medical trust document say she was admitted to a private clinic in Switzerland three months after her funeral?

Julian stood frozen near the front door, his knuckles turning white as he clenched his fists.

Julian: You don't know what you are talking about. You are reading legal terms you don't understand.

Veronica: I understand money, Julian! I know what a five-million-dollar trust transfer looks like!

Julian: That trust fund was set up for Toby’s future education and medical care.

Veronica: Then why is my sister listed as the primary beneficiary instead of Toby?

Julian: Because it was her estate! She inherited the family stock before we were married!

Veronica: You lied to me, Julian. You lied to the whole family for five entire years!

Veronica stood up, clutching the paper tight against her chest, her body trembling with anger.

Julian: I did what I had to do to protect my family and my business from bankruptcy.

Veronica: You protected your CEO position! You didn't care about my sister at all!

Julian: I cared enough to pay two hundred thousand dollars a month to keep her on life support!

The hallway fell completely silent, save for the hum of the air conditioner overhead.

Veronica: What... what did you just say?

Julian: You heard me. She didn't die in that crash, Veronica.

Veronica: She's alive? My sister is alive right now?

Julian: She was in a deep coma for four years at a private facility in Geneva.

Veronica: Was? What do you mean *was*?

Julian: She woke up three weeks ago. And that hotel I was at last night? She was staying in room 402 waiting for her new passport.

Veronica stared at him, her eyes wide with disbelief as her breathing turned shallow.

Veronica: You kept her hidden in Europe so you could control her inheritance shares in Sterling Enterprises!

Julian: I kept her hidden because the people who ran her off the road are still sitting on our board of directors!

Veronica took a slow step back, shaking her head as the full weight of his words sank in.

Veronica: You are lying again. You are just trying to save your own skin.

Julian: Look at the second page of that document, Veronica. Look at who controls the voting stock now.
