Carter: What injunction?! What are you talking about, David?!
David Vance: Maya's legal team submitted the original hospital records and the blood match half an hour ago. The court froze all company accounts.
Carter: You were supposed to delay the hearing until next month!
David Vance: The District Attorney took over the file, Carter! I can't protect you from a federal fraud charge!
Carter dropped his hand, the phone sliding out of his palm and shattering on the marble floor.
Maya: Did David tell you the good news, Carter?
Carter: You... you set this up. You took this catering job on purpose.
Maya: I needed to get inside this gated mansion to see my daughter with my own eyes.
Chloe: Mommy, I missed you so much. He told me you didn't want me.
Maya: He lied to you, sweetie. I looked for you every single day.
Maya bent down and picked Chloe up, holding the little girl securely on her hip. Chloe wrapped her arms tightly around Maya's neck, refusing to let go.
Carter: You won't get a single penny from the company, Maya. I spent four years building that brand!
Maya: You spent four years draining my father's trust fund to pay off your gambling debts in Las Vegas.
Carter: That was an investment!
Maya: Stealing twelve million dollars from a child's adoption fund is not an investment, Carter. It's grand larceny.
A tall man in a grey suit walked through the grand glass entrance of the mansion, flanked by two uniformed police officers.
Detective Reed: Carter Sterling?
Carter: Detective Reed... what is the meaning of this?
Detective Reed: We have a warrant for your arrest for child endangerment, custodial interference, and corporate bank fraud.
Carter: This is a private family dispute! My lawyer is handling it!
Detective Reed: Your lawyer just turned over your offshore bank statements to the prosecutor's office, sir. Turn around and put your hands behind your back.
The security guards step back, completely abandoning Carter as the police officers step forward.
Carter: Get off me! Do you know how much money I donated to the department last year?!
Officer Miller: Keep your voice down, sir. You have the right to remain silent.
The metallic click of handcuffs echoed through the silent mansion hall. The guests began whispering loudly, recording the entire arrest on their phones.
Guest 3: I can't believe he stole his own niece's inheritance!
Guest 4: He kept that poor girl hidden away for four years just for money!
Carter: Maya! Tell them to stop! We can make a deal! I'll give you half the company shares!
Maya: The company shares already belong to Chloe, Carter. You have nothing left to offer.
The officers led a shouting, struggling Carter out through the front glass doors, pushing him into the back of a black police cruiser.
Maya stroked Chloe's soft hair, feeling the little girl's breathing finally slow down as the fear left her tiny body.
Chloe: Is he gone now, Mommy?
Maya: He's gone, sweetie. He's never coming back.
