The high school cafeteria was buzzing with the usual lunch chatter, bright sunlight streaming through the tall glass windows onto the white lockers and crowded tables.
Chloe: GET OUT OF MY WAY!
Chloe stood in her navy uniform sweater, her face red with anger as she glared at the quiet girl holding a beige jacket and a modest lunch tray.
Maya: Chloe, I'm just trying to get past the table to sit down.
Chloe: I told you this table is reserved for my friends. People like you don't belong in this section!
Maya: There are no reserved signs here. I have every right to sit wherever I want.
Chloe: You think you can talk back to me?!
Before Maya could even take a step back, Chloe raised her open hand and delivered a harsh slap straight across Maya's face.
The sharp crack echoed off the locker walls, sending Maya's lunch tray crashing onto the floor, spilling food and juice everywhere across the polished tiles.
Maya fell to her knees on the cafeteria floor, her small hands clutching her bright red cheek as tears spilled down her face.
The entire cafeteria went dead silent, students gasping in utter shock at the violent outburst.
Student 1: Did she really just hit her like that?!
Student 2: That's terrible... Maya didn't even do anything wrong!
Chloe: That'll teach you to stay in your place, you worthless orphan!
A tall boy in a varsity jacket suddenly rushed through the crowd, his heart pounding in his chest as he saw the scene.
Ethan: WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?!
Ethan stopped dead in his tracks, his eyes widening in pure horror as he saw Maya crying on the floor.
Ethan: Maya?!
He stepped in front of Chloe abruptly, shoving her back forcefully to create distance between her and the weeping girl.
Ethan: DON'T YOU EVER TOUCH HER AGAIN!
Chloe: Ethan, calm down! SHE DESERVED IT!
Ethan: Nobody deserves to be put on the floor by a bully!
Ethan pointed sternly toward the heavy cafeteria exit doors, his face filled with furious authority as he helped Maya stand up carefully.
Ethan: GET OUT OF HERE NOW!
Chloe's face flushed with nervous embarrassment as the entire school watched her fall from grace, but she had no idea who Maya really was.
