Laurent: Officers, listen to me! This is a domestic dispute between family members over an inheritance!
Police Officer: Sir, we watched the video clip on our way up in the elevator. Step away from the table and put your hands behind your back.
Laurent: You can't arrest me! I am Laurent Vance! My family owns this entire hotel chain!
Police Officer: Sir, I don't care if you own the moon. You struck a young child on camera. Turn around now.
Officer Jenkins stepped forward, grabbing Laurent's arms, pulling them behind his back, and clicking a pair of cold steel handcuffs around his wrists.
Laurent: AHH! Get your hands off me! You're hurting my wrists!
Police Officer: You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.
Laurent: Claire! Tell them to stop! We can settle this in private! I'll give you back the loan money!
Claire: You had your chance to act like a human being, Laurent. You chose to strike a defenseless little girl instead.
Laurent: Sophie! Tell them you forgive your uncle! Tell them it was an accident!
Sophie looked up at her uncle, holding her mother's hand tightly as she stood tall and proud.
Sophie: It wasn't an accident, Uncle Laurent. You hit me because you were mean.
Police Officer: Let me take him to the patrol car outside, Officer. Search his coat for the watch.
Officer Jenkins pulled the silver and diamond watch wrapped in a silk handkerchief right out of Laurent's inner pinstriped jacket pocket.
Police Officer: Item recovered. Grand larceny charge confirmed.
Laurent: No! That's my watch! My father gave it to me!
Claire: The serial number on that watch is registered under Thomas Vance's name, Officer. The paperwork is in my leather file.
Police Officer: Appreciate it, ma'am. We'll take it into evidence.
Laurent was dragged across the polished marble floor, kicking his dress shoes against the tiles as he screamed in frustration and disgrace.
The heavy front doors closed behind him, leaving the grand banquet hall in a peaceful, quiet calm once again.
