Julian: Look at that. A brass key.
Evelyn: It's... it's just a spare key to my jewelry box!
Julian: And this blue folder?
Julian knelt down and picked up the heavy paper, unfolding it right under the bright lights of the crystal chandelier.
Arthur: Julian, put that down immediately. That is private corporation business.
Julian: This is my father's original trust fund amendment. The one signed three days before he died in the hospital.
Evelyn: He didn't know what he was signing! He was confused!
Julian: It says here that ninety percent of the family estate, including the corporate board seats, goes directly to my sister and me.
Arthur: That document was revoked!
Julian: It wasn't revoked, Grandfather. It was stolen out of the law firm's safe six months ago!
Guest 1: Is that true? Did they hide the real inheritance?
Guest 2: I thought Arthur took over the firm because the father left no will!
Julian: That's what they wanted everyone to believe!
Evelyn sank back into her dining chair, her face pale as a sheet as the surrounding guests began to whisper frantically among themselves.
Evelyn: Grandfather forced me to do it! He told me he would cut my husband out of the trust if I didn't hide it!
Arthur: Shut your mouth, you foolish woman!
Evelyn: He gave me the brass key to his private safe in the garden house! He told me to keep the folder there until the probate court closed!
Arthur: She's lying! She forged those signatures herself!
Julian: Your ruby red ring is stamped into the wax seal on the back of this folder, Grandfather.
Arthur looked down at his own hand, his lips trembling as he tried to speak, but no words came out.
Julian: You used your personal seal to validate the fraudulent probate filings.
Claire: My God... you deprived your own grandchildren of their father's legacy?
Arthur: I built this empire! I wasn't going to let two inexperienced kids ruin forty years of hard work!
Julian: It wasn't your empire to take. My father earned every dollar while you sat on the board taking dividends.
Julian pulled his smartphone from his suit pocket and tapped the screen twice, lifting it to his ear.
Julian: Detective Miller? You can come inside now. The evidence is on the floor.
