Mia: My mother? No, that can't be true.
Clara: It is true. My heart knew it the second I saw you.
Mia: But I grew up in a tiny apartment. We had no money.
Clara: You were taken from me. Stolen from your crib.
Arthur: Madam, we need to take this conversation inside. It is not safe out here.
Clara: You are right. Come with me, Mia. Please.
Mia: Inside that massive building?
Clara: I own that building. Come inside.
Arthur escorted them past the security guards and straight into the private executive elevator.
Mia: I have never been in an elevator this fancy.
Clara: You will never have to ride the subway again, I promise you.
Mia: I don't understand any of this. Who took me?
Clara: Your biological father.
Mia: My father? Why would he do that?
Clara: We were going through a terrible divorce. He wanted a huge settlement.
Mia: He kidnapped me for money?
Clara: He demanded access to the family trust fund. When the judge denied it, he vanished with you.
Arthur: We hired the best private investigators in the country, Miss Mia.
Clara: But he used fake passports. The trail went cold in weeks.
Mia: I never knew a father. The woman who found me said I was just left on a bench.
Clara: He must have panicked. He abandoned you.
The elevator doors dinged, opening directly into a massive corporate boardroom overlooking the city.
Mia: This place is huge.
Clara: This is the headquarters of our family business. And one day, it will all be yours.
Julian: Not if I have anything to say about it.
A young man in a sharp tailored suit stepped out of the shadows near the boardroom window.
Clara: Julian, what are you doing in my office?
Julian: I am the Vice President, Clara. I have every right to be here.
Clara: This is a private family matter. Leave.
Julian: Family? Who is this beggar girl tracking dirt onto the carpet?
Mia: I am not a beggar. I am a florist.
Julian: She smells like a cheap street corner.
Clara: Do not speak to your cousin that way.
Julian: Cousin? Are you insane?
