The Shadow In The Hallway

She Confronted Her Husband's Mistress Until A Secret Trust Fund Surfaced banner

Amber: You... you crazy bitch! My ribs are broken!

Sienna: Get up off my floor, Amber. You look pathetic.

Amber: This isn't your floor! Richard owns this penthouse!

Sienna: Check the deed on the table behind you. Look at the corporate owner's name.

Amber pushed herself up slowly, her hands trembling as she reached for the leather folder on the glass table.

She opened the official real estate papers, her eyes scanning the bold black ink at the bottom.

Amber: Sterling Holdings Limited... that's Richard's offshore company!

Sienna: Sterling Holdings belongs to my late father's estate. Richard was merely the managing trustee.

Amber: No... no, that's impossible! Richard told me he was the primary founder!

Sienna: My father funded his entire business venture fifteen years ago before he passed away.

The heavy double front doors of the penthouse opened, and a tall man in a navy suit walked inside.

Richard stopped in his tracks, looking from Amber holding her ribs on the floor to Sienna standing calmly by the window.

Richard: What on earth is happening in here?!

Amber: Richard! Baby, help me! She attacked me! She kicked me onto the floor!

Richard: Sienna? What are you doing in the city? You were supposed to be in Miami!

Sienna: I came back to review the trust fund accounts, Richard. And I found some very interesting charges.

Richard swallowed hard, his face losing all its color as he adjusted his silk tie.

Richard: Sienna, let's talk about this in the study. Amber, go upstairs to the master bedroom.

Amber: I'm not going anywhere! Richard, tell her to leave! Tell her this place belongs to us!

Richard: Amber, please! Just shut up for five minutes!

Amber stared at Richard in total disbelief, her voice cracking with emotional hurt.

Amber: You're telling me to shut up?! I'm your wife!

Sienna: She's your wife? That's funny, Richard. Because according to state records, you never finalized your divorce with my sister.

Amber froze, her breath catching in her throat as she stared at Richard.

Amber: What... what did she just say?

Richard: Sienna, don't do this here. Not like this.

Sienna: You married this girl in Las Vegas two years ago while still legally married to Clara.

Amber: Richard... is she telling the truth?! Are we not legally married?!

Richard: Amber, I can explain! The paperwork was delayed in the family court system!

Amber: You lied to me! You told me the divorce was finalized four years ago!

Sienna: He lied to you so he could use your name to sign the shell company mortgages.

Amber dropped the leather folder onto the floor, tears streaming down her reddened cheeks.

Amber: What shell company mortgages?! What did you put my name on, Richard?!

Richard: Sienna, keep quiet! You're breaking non-disclosure agreements!

Sienna: Non-disclosure agreements don't cover bank fraud and grand larceny, Richard.

Sienna reached into her white leather handbag and pulled out a stack of financial audit documents.

Sienna: The forensic accountants finished checking the offshore bank accounts this morning.

Richard: How did you get access to those bank statements?!

Sienna: Because I am the sole executor of the Vance Family Trust now. And you are officially removed as trustee.

Richard took a step back, clutching the edge of the marble hallway wall as his hands shook violently.

Richard: You can't remove me without a board vote! I hold thirty percent of the voting shares!

Sienna: You held thirty percent until you used trust assets to buy this penthouse for your mistress.

Amber wiped her tears, her voice rising into a sharp, furious scream.

Amber: I am not a mistress! I thought I was his legal wife!

Sienna: You're an accomplice to fraud, Amber. And the police are downstairs right now.
