Mark tapped his tablet screen, casting a high-resolution spreadsheet onto the large monitor mounted on the boardroom wall.
Mark: Over the past eighteen months, while serving as interim executive vice president, Chloe Sterling forged signatures on fourteen separate wire transfers, moving over two point four million dollars from our client investment fund into her personal accounts in Grand Cayman.
Board Member 1: My God... two point four million dollars?!
Board Member 3: That's corporate embezzlement! That could ruin this firm's reputation permanently!
Claire: That's why Mark and I called this emergency meeting today. We aren't going to sweep this under the rug like my sister thought we would.
Board Member 2: What do you propose we do, Claire?
Claire: As the majority shareholder holding fifty-one percent of the company's voting stock through my father's estate trust, I am officially moving to terminate Chloe Sterling from all corporate positions effective immediately.
Board Member 1: I second the motion. Is there any opposition?
The board members looked around the room. Not a single hand was raised.
Board Member 1: The motion carries unanimously. Chloe Sterling is terminated.
Mark: Furthermore, we have authorized our legal team to cooperate fully with the federal grand jury investigation into her wire fraud activities.
Board Member 3: What about the missing funds? Can the company recover the two point four million?
Claire: My father's private trust will temporarily cover the shortfall to ensure none of our clients lose a single penny. But Chloe's personal assets will be liquidated by the state court to reimburse the trust.
Board Member 2: You are remarkably generous, Claire. After everything she put you through, you're still protecting the company's integrity.
