The Arrest At The Gates

Her Mother-In-Law Pushed Her Down But Her Husband Arrived Just In Time banner

Eleanor: Marcus, please... let's sit down and talk like a family! I'll apologize to Emma! I'll buy her whatever she wants!

Marcus: You can't buy your way out of felony child endangerment and aggravated assault, mother.

Eleanor: Emma, tell him to stop! You're a mother now, you should understand family forgiveness!

Emma: I am a mother, Eleanor. And my primary job as a mother is to protect my baby from venomous people like you.

Eleanor: You ungrateful little bitch! I gave you a home in this family!

Marcus: Security! Get in here now!

Two uniformed hospital security guards stepped into the room, instantly placing themselves between Eleanor and the hospital bed.

Security Guard 1: Ma'am, you need to step outside right now. You are trespassing on private hospital property.

Eleanor: Get your hands off me! Do you know who I am?! I am Eleanor Vance!

Security Guard 2: We don't care who you are, ma'am. Walk out on your own, or we will escort you out in handcuffs.

Eleanor glared at Emma with dark, hateful eyes before turning and marching out down the hallway, her high heels clicking loudly against the linoleum tile.

Emma: Oh, Marcus... my heart is beating so fast.

Marcus: Settle down, sweetheart. Look at me. She can't hurt us anymore.

Marcus sat on the edge of the bed, leaning down to press a soft kiss against Emma's forehead.

Emma: Do you really think the prosecutor will charge her?

Marcus: The evidence is overwhelming, Emma. The video, the audio recording from her purse, the hospital medical reports, and the notary's testimony about the forged trust fund papers.

Emma: What about her allowance? The condo you bought her?

Marcus: I am cutting off all financial support today. My accountants are revoking her credit cards as we speak. The condo is under my company name, and I am putting it up for sale tomorrow morning.

Emma: She won't have anywhere to go...

Marcus: She has the consequences of her own actions to keep her company, Emma. She chose money and greed over her own son and grandchild.

Down downstairs in the hospital lobby, two city police cruisers pulled up to the main glass entrance, their red and blue emergency lights flashing bright against the afternoon sky.

Police Officer 1: Eleanor Vance?

Eleanor: Yes! What is the meaning of this circus?!

Police Officer 1: Ma'am, you are under arrest for felony domestic assault, attempted extortion, and child endangerment.

Eleanor: This is a mistake! My son is Marcus Vance, owner of Vance Logistics! Call him right now!

Police Officer 2: Your son is the one who filed the criminal complaint, ma'am. Turn around and put your hands behind your back.

Eleanor: No! Let go of me! You can't touch me!

The officer turned Eleanor around, clicking heavy steel handcuffs onto her wrists in front of dozens of shocked hospital visitors and staff members.

Bystander 1: Is that the rich lady from the country club?

Bystander 2: Yeah, that's Eleanor Vance! What did she do?

Bystander 1: I heard she attacked her pregnant daughter-in-law for money!

Eleanor: Stop staring at me, you peasants! Marcus! MARCUS!

The officers loaded Eleanor into the back seat of the police cruiser, slamming the heavy door shut as the siren began to wail, driving her away toward the county jail.
