Chloe: Who are you? How did you get into this private garage?
Samantha: My name is Samantha Vance, senior corporate counsel for Sterling Enterprises.
Victoria: Sterling Enterprises? That's the conglomerate buying up the entire downtown auto district!
Samantha: Correct, Mrs. Vance. And I am here to report directly to my boss.
Samantha walked right past Chloe, stopping beside Daniel and handing him the sleek tablet.
Samantha: The final wire transfer of forty-five million dollars just cleared, sir. The purchase of the entire logistics division is finalized.
Chloe's jaw dropped open. She looked from the tablet to Daniel's oil-stained face, her eyes wide with shock.
Chloe: Forty-five... forty-five million?! What is she talking about, Daniel?!
Daniel: I told you I was working on a project, Chloe. You just never cared to ask what it was.
Victoria: Daniel... you own a logistics company?
Daniel: I built the electric powertrain patent in this very garage over the last three years, Victoria.
Chloe: But... but you work as a mechanic! You fix motorcycles for fifty bucks an hour!
Daniel: I work on bikes because I like working with my hands. It relaxes me.
Daniel stood up slowly, wiping his greasy palms on his red rag before tossing it onto a wooden workbench.
Samantha: The board of directors is waiting for your signature on the press release, Mr. Sterling.
Chloe: Sterling?! Your last name is Vance! You told me your name was Daniel Vance!
Daniel: Vance is my middle name, Chloe. Daniel Sterling Vance.
Victoria: Sterling... as in Sterling Global Transportation?!
Samantha: He is the primary owner and founder, ma'am. He owns seventy percent of the voting stock.
Chloe took a fast step forward, reaching out toward Daniel's arm, but Samantha stepped smoothly between them.
Chloe: Daniel, wait! Please! I was just stressed out because of the wedding expenses!
Daniel: You called me a pathetic greasy failure five seconds ago, Chloe.
Chloe: I didn't mean it! You know how my temper gets when I'm overwhelmed!
Victoria: Daniel, dear... let's sit down and talk about this like family. We can go to a nice restaurant!
Daniel: Family? You stood right behind her and cheered when she threw my ring on the floor.
Victoria: I was just trying to protect my daughter's future! I didn't know you had a trust fund and corporate assets!
Daniel: You didn't care about who I was. You only cared about what was in my bank account.
Daniel glanced down at the concrete floor, pointing at the diamond ring resting near a pool of motor oil.
Daniel: You dropped it, Chloe. Pick it up and leave.
Chloe: Daniel, please! We just got married three weeks ago! We can fix this!
Samantha: Actually, Mrs. Vance, my legal team prepared the divorce petition thirty minutes ago upon Mr. Sterling's instructions.
Chloe: What?! You had a lawyer prepare divorce papers before coming here?!
Daniel: I knew exactly what you were going to do today, Chloe. I wanted to see if you would stand by me for one more week.
Chloe began to sob, her tears running down her cheeks as she clutched her expensive silk gown.
Chloe: I love you, Daniel! I swear I love you!
Daniel: You love the forty-five million dollars, Chloe. You never loved me.
