Inside The Master Vault

Cruel Duchess Attacks Servant Girl In Snowy Castle Courtyard banner

The heavy oak doors of the castle study swung open, revealing a room lined with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, a grand marble fireplace, and a large steel safe embedded into the back wall.

Lawyer Sterling: Thomas, light the fire please. Miss Clara needs to warm up immediately.

Guardsman Thomas: Right away, sir. I'll bring some clean towels and warm tea from the kitchen as well.

Clara sat down in the large leather armchair behind her father's old desk, her hands trembling slightly as the warmth of the room hit her frozen skin.

Lawyer Sterling: Here is the master vault key, Miss Vance. Insert your mother's ring into the center mechanism first.

Clara raised the silver ring and pressed it directly into the small circular slot on the front of the safe door. A heavy metallic click echoed through the quiet study, followed by the whirring of internal gears.

Clara: It fits perfectly...

Lawyer Sterling: Lord Richard designed the lock mechanism himself. It was forged by his family's jewelry company thirty years ago.

Clara pulled the heavy steel handle downward, and the vault door swung open smoothly, revealing neat stacks of gold certificates, stock deeds, and a single thick parchment envelope labeled with her name.

Lawyer Sterling: Go ahead, Clara. It's yours.

Clara reached inside and pulled out the envelope, gently breaking the red wax seal stamped with her father's crest.

Clara: "To my dearest daughter Clara..."

She began reading the letter aloud, her voice soft but steady as Lawyer Sterling stood quietly nearby.

Clara: "If you are reading this letter, it means you have turned eighteen, and Genevieve's greed has finally been brought to light. I am deeply sorry for the pain you had to endure while waiting for this day to arrive."

Tears welled up in Clara's eyes, dripping down her cheek onto the thick paper.

Clara: "The fortune in this vault is not just money, Clara. It is the foundation of our family's legacy. Use it to protect those who cannot protect themselves, and never let anyone make you feel small in your own home."

Lawyer Sterling: Your father was a brilliant man, Miss Vance. He foresaw every move Genevieve would make.

Clara: He left everything to the foundation, didn't he?

Lawyer Sterling: Sixty percent goes to the orphanages and medical clinics your mother founded. The remaining forty percent is yours in an irrevocable trust fund.

Thomas walked back into the room holding a tray with warm tea and clean white bandages.

Guardsman Thomas: Miss Clara, the doctor is on his way up the driveway now. He'll treat those wounds right away.

Clara: Thank you, Thomas. For everything you did today.

Guardsman Thomas: It was my honor, Miss Clara. Your father saved my family years ago. Today, we finally paid that debt back.
