The sound of heavy tires crunching on the gravel driveway echoed through the open windows. Red and blue lights flashed across the white dining room walls, reflecting off the chandeliers.
Vanessa: Police?! Marcus, you called the police on us?!
Marcus: I called the police on Julian for corporate embezzlement. And as for you, Vanessa, read clause fourteen of our prenup.
Vanessa frantically grabbed one of the loose paper sheets off the marble floor, her shaking hands smudging the black ink.
Vanessa: Clause fourteen... no, no, no!
Marcus: Any act of infidelity proven with photographic or video evidence forfeits all rights to marital property, alimony, and joint accounts.
Vanessa: You're leaving me with nothing?!
Marcus: You arrived in this marriage with a suitcase, Vanessa. You'll leave with a suitcase.
Julian: Marcus, please don't do this to me! If I get arrested, my reputation is completely destroyed! My firm will collapse!
Marcus: You destroyed your own reputation the moment you put your hands on my wife in my house.
The grand double doors of the entrance hall swung open, and two uniformed officers walked into the dining area, followed by Marcus’s corporate attorney, David Sterling.
Officer: Marcus Sterling?
Marcus: Officer. That man right there is Julian Vance. He has stolen over two million dollars from Sterling Logistics accounts. My attorney has the wire transfer evidence right here.
Julian: Vanessa, tell them! Tell them it was a joint investment strategy!
Vanessa: Don't drag me into this, Julian!
Julian: You were the one who asked me to transfer the money to your offshore account!
Marcus laughed bitterly, shaking his head as he watched the two traitors turn on each other instantly.
Marcus: Off shore accounts? Thank you for confirming that on police body cam, Julian.
Officer: Julian Vance, you are under arrest for grand larceny and corporate fraud. Turn around and put your hands behind your back.
